When we grouped every fatal and serious-injury crash by intersection, the worst spots in the county topped out at just 7 recurring serious crashes each — modest by statewide standards. For context, 98 intersections across Florida have 10 or more recurring serious crashes, and three counties — Pasco, Manatee, and Orange — hold 79% of them. Marion is not one of those counties. The danger is spread, not concentrated

Marion's worst junctions cluster modestly around three corridors. US 441 carries the most of them — SR 40, SR 464, US 27, and 22nd Street NW all cross it at recurring-crash junctions. SR 40 (Silver Springs Boulevard) adds the I-75 interchange and 27th Avenue SW. SE Maricamp Road ties in Pine Road and Emerald Road. But every one of these tops out near 7 recurring serious crashes — a fraction of what the worst intersections in Manatee or Pasco produce. Unlike those counties, Marion has no chronic black spot; the danger is distributed across corridors. When crashes happen in Marion County

Fatal crashes in the county peak around 7 p.m. on Saturdays, and just under half happen after dark. The deadliest single corridor, US 441, is also the one carrying the most dangerous intersections — the same road running through the same neighborhoods. Marion also stands out for older drivers: a driver age 65 or older is flagged in 24.5% of serious crashes, and impairment in 14.2% — both high.
