Gainesville's deadliest road corridors

Ranked by the number of people killed, these are Alachua County's most dangerous roads:

I-75 dominates: it carries high speeds through the county and produced the deadliest single crash on record here — 7 people killed in 2019. But volume isn't the whole story. US 301 kills at one of the highest rates in the county — about 45 deaths per 100 serious crashes — and I-75 at about 33, the signature of rural high-speed impacts. By contrast, SR 26 (University Avenue) is the busy urban arterial that carries the most injuries (116 serious injuries) while killing at a much lower rate per crash. US 441 runs a similar mix of speed and cross-traffic through the county's spine.
