No county in Florida has more chronically dangerous intersections than Pasco. When we grouped every fatal and serious-injury crash by junction, Pasco came out with 33 of the state's 98 worst intersections — more than Manatee (24) or Orange (20), and the single largest share of any county. It's really two roads

The pattern is impossible to miss: nearly every dangerous intersection in the county sits on one of two corridors. US 19 runs down the Gulf Coast and carries Darlington Road, Sunray Drive, and SR 52 at high-crash junctions — and it is not just a Pasco problem, it is the deadliest road in all of Florida, with 86 people killed along its Pasco stretch. SR 54 cuts east–west across the fast-growing center of the county, crossing Trinity Boulevard, Starkey Boulevard, and Duck Slough Boulevard at some of the worst intersections on the list. These are aging, high-volume surface highways carrying booming traffic through Pasco, with frequent driveways, turning movements, and long signal cycles — the exact ingredients that make an intersection produce serious crashes again and again. It is the same reason Pasco owns a share of the statewide list far out of proportion to its population.
