US 19 is not just Pasco's deadliest road — with 86 people killed in five years it ranks among the deadliest corridors in the entire state, and its danger does not stop at the county line: the same highway runs south into neighboring Pinellas County, where it remains one of that county's worst roads too. Through Pasco it is a wide, high-speed commercial strip lined with driveways, bus stops, and exposed pedestrians. SR 54 and SR 52 are fast-growing east–west arterials straining under new suburban traffic, while US 301 kills at the highest rate per crash of any major Pasco road (about 18 deaths per 100 serious crashes).

The pattern is consistent: most fatal crashes come on Saturday nights, after dark, with an older driver (65 or over) or a lane departure — a vehicle drifting or veering out of its lane — as the most common factors in serious crashes.
