Broward's dangerous intersections are spread across its west-side arterials rather than one corridor — and the top five all recorded the same count, 10 recurring serious crashes, so there is no single runaway-worst junction. The danger is unusually even, while deaths concentrate on I-95.

Broward County is one of Florida's largest and most heavily traveled, but its intersection danger has an unusual shape. When we grouped every fatal and serious-injury crash by junction, the striking finding was how even the top of the list is: the five worst intersections all recorded exactly the same count — 10 recurring serious crashes. There is no single runaway-worst junction the way SR 70 & US 41 dominates Manatee. Broward has 52 intersections with five or more recurring serious crashes, and across the county, intersection crashes killed about 389 people and seriously injured roughly 3,050 over the window studied. An unusually even spread

Most Florida counties have one intersection that stands clearly above the rest. Broward does not. The top five junctions are tied at 10 recurring serious crashes each, and what separates them is only the number of people hurt: Rock Island Rd & Sample Rd did the most damage, with 19 serious injuries, followed by S Hiatus Rd & W Broward Blvd (17) and NW 19th St & NW 31st Ave (15). Geographically, they are scattered across the county's west-side arterials — Sample Road, Broward Boulevard, SR 7 (US 441), University Drive, and SR 838 (Sunrise Boulevard) — rather than lined up on a single corridor. This is the diffuse pattern of a big, grid-built suburban county: many busy arterials each producing serious crashes, with no one black spot dominating. Deaths, by contrast, concentrate on I-95, the county's deadliest road with 60 people killed.

Fatal crashes in the county peak around 8 p.m. on Saturdays, and nearly 60% — 59.2% — happen after dark.
